IYSO PROGRAM
2016/2017
An artist should have interdisciplinary knowledge so s/he becomes a quallified artist whom people can connect, communicate, and work their ideas with. Our goal for the young musicians in IYSO is to develop their musical and soft skills for a greater purpose of preparing each member’s future career. The following are programs created to facilitate the members’ learning process:
Weekly Rehearsal
Core musicians rehearse once a week, studying various symphonic repertory works to develop their technical and ensemble skills.
Conducting Fellowship
Educate young conductors by practical and theory classes every week and give opportunities to conduct the orchestra rehearsal/performance.
Young People's Concert
The orchestra conduct a presentation of work selection per months for the public. The goal of this program is to promote and educate young audience about symphony orchestra.
Recording Session
Learning experience of audio & visual recording in an orchestra. This session gives opportunity not only for orchestra members, but also for young sound engineers and video production crew.
Orchestra Academy & Symphonic Concert
Once a year celebration of youth, inviting many young musicians from all over Indonesia to gather in one place to rehearse with the core members. The rehearsal camp is held for IYSO members to experience teaching and learning process from the Music Director, Kanako Abe. The concert tour that follows is meant for IYSO members to gain experience from various cities and concert halls performances, and establish a firm sense of ensemble.
Young Composers League
Appreciate the best ideas from Indonesian young composers by offering them a chance (through selection) to showcase their masterpieces with the orchestra. Studying new works also allow IYSO’s members to broaden their repertoire references.
